Do you have an artistic or musical talent, as well as a hunger for academic knowledge? You can now mix art and academia in metropolitan Rotterdam. Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) has teamed up with Willem de Kooning Academy (WDKA) and Codarts, offering you a unique opportunity to combine theory and practice in a five-year double degree programme.
Today’s world needs transdisciplinary experts who can address complex and multidimensional challenges. Your artistic practice will benefit from your theoretical knowledge about the arts, media, culture and sciences– and vice versa: your theoretical work is fuelled by your experience as an artist. You will be able to enter the job market with either degree, but you can also integrate both studies in your future career.
Your time as a double degree student will be spent studying at two institutes simultaneously. The two courses are combined to form a five-year programme, which would have taken seven years otherwise. This means you divide your time between two places logistically, as well as socially. It creates a rich environment with a trade-off between academics and arts. Besides the regular program, all institutes offer a wide range of extra-curricular programs, committees, events, exchange and internship possibilities
Programme content
This programme is offered by the Rotterdam Arts & Sciences Lab (RASL). The following four institutes and departments participate in the double degree. You will be able to pick one of the programmes offered at Erasmus University Rotterdam and combine this with a programme at either Codarts or Willem de Kooning Academy:
Erasmus University Rotterdam: International Bachelor Arts and Culture Studies (BA) OR
Erasmus University College (BSc Liberal Arts & Sciences)
PLUS
Codarts Rotterdam: Classical Music, Jazz, Pop, World Music OR
Willem de Kooning Academy (Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences): Fine Art and Photography, Advertising, Animation, Audiovisual Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Lifestyle, Product Design, Spatial Design
